At the end of the Spring Practice season, we visited with Charlotte Country Day Head Coach Drew Witman and his Buccaneers as they were holding some more casual workouts being led by leaders on their team while the coaches stepped in and provided direction when necessary.
While the Bucs won the NCISAA Division 2 State Championship last season, Coach Witman told me that their main goal this season is to win the Division 1 Championship, where the best teams in the NCISAA play for a state title. Witman believes the best thing about this team is how well they work together, and that they don’t have anyone that is “above” the team, a great trait for winning teams to have.
The Bucs have some talent in returning QB Russell Tabor, who threw some really good balls in the time we observed in practice, as well as RB Quentin Cooper who is a definite unsung talent in the city of Charlotte, who rushed for over 240 yards in their championship game win last season.
Please enjoy these pictures and interviews we had with the Bucs during our visit with them, as we wish them luck this upcoming season in going for the Division 1 NCISAA Championship!
