Summer Football 2019: Butler Bulldogs

We recently sat down and spoke with legendary Butler Bulldogs Head Coach Brian Hales about his prospects for his team this upcoming season - and expect the Bulldogs to be another tough out as they always are every season!

On offense, Coach Hales is expecting some big things from two offensive linemen in Anthony Carter and Trey Richburg, both of which are Division 1 level players and both have the offers to back that up. Witnessing them in action last season, they have the ability to just take over a game up front and the running game just chews up clock and keeps other teams off the field.

Of course, most people know about big Bulldog Running Back Jamal Worthy, who holds a couple of college offers in his own right, and we also featured him in a recent Player Focus Breakdown article. Expect the offense to lean on Worthy a good bit as the Bulldogs break in a new starting quarterback in Parish Metzger, however he will have some weapons to get the ball to on the outside such as returning WR Josh Barnette.

Defensively, Coach Hales highlights a few players - namely CB Jacalyn Morrison, a very good DB with great physical abilities and a cold conscience to play outside against the best receivers in one on one situations. Two other players that should star on the defensive side of the ball are the brothers Darius and Donovan Law, who Hales states will play “all over the field, including special teams.” Up on the defensive line, expect John Park to be the guy that leads the charge, per Hales he did a very good job last season in that same area of the defense.

Butler opens up Week 1 against the Hough Huskies in the CLT Kickoff Game over at Matthews Sportsplex, and CFI will be there to bring you the pictures, highlights, analysis and more! We expect it to be a great game, and with the Bulldogs, we expect them to bring it as they always do, and we suspect it will be another good season down in Matthews.
