Summer Football 2019: Hunter Huss Huskies

Hunter Huss Head Coach Jamar McKoy speaks with his assistants during practice

The Hunter Huss Huskies had a wonderful year last season, winning their conference and 13 straight games and making a deep run into the state playoffs last season. Head Coach Jamar McKoy has turned this program completely around, and in my personal opinion, does not get enough credit for doing so in a place that doesn’t have a decorated history of football success throughout the years.

This season, Coach McKoy will lean on a couple of especially talented players - 4 year starting QB Zo Wallace who has a couple of offers currently on the collegiate level, and ATH Dontavius Nash, a 4 star recruit that has several suitors on the collegiate level in desire of his services.

Watching this team in practice, Coach McKoy and his assistants are constantly coaching all over the field during every rep, and while being demanding, they are also understanding, which to me is a sign of a very well coached team. Before practice began, Coach McKoy pulled his team together and advised them that they would have to be able to take coaching and be receptive to instruction in order to be successful.

The Huskies may have lost some talent to graduation last season, but based on what I saw today I don’t doubt that they have the ability to reload and have another good season in Gastonia.
