This week’s feature game will be between the Independence Patriots and the Ardrey Kell Knights.
Both teams come into this match-up 2-1; the Patriots lost last week to Olympic High School 29-28 while Ardrey Kell defeated Marvin Ridge 36-33 in a great game. Which team will edge this one out?
Independence will be led by third year head coach, Mike Natoli and junior quarterback Arnold Taylor. The pass attack is led by the hands of senior wide receiver Trevor Bryan who has scored four touchdowns in just three games. Add to it their run attack led by junior back, Davion Nelson, and it might be a long day trying to stop them.
On the other side, Ardrey Kell handed the reigns over to Greg Jachym—former defensive coordinator and brand-new head coach. At 34, Jachym will not be without his challenges. His senior quarterback Jared Joseph is dangerous on both sides of the ball—acting also as a free safety. He’s already proved that not only can he throw touchdowns, but he can also be a key player in the AK secondary.
The task for both teams will be how they handle themselves in the face of the opposing teams defense. The Patriots played well in their two wins against two teams who are struggling a bit early in the season, but had a slow start to put things together against an Olympic team that had a great gameplan coming into the game. Ardrey Kell, on the other hand, after losing to Weddington, has seemed to have gotten it together. Playing a team like Independence will be a good test for them and it should be close.
Who wins this one? Stay tuned to find out.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
